When our advanced level fitness coach, Chris Caddock, says, 'you don't give up, he's speaking from personal experience.
Just under a decade ago, Chris had severe colitis. After a particularly nasty bout, which saw him being admitted to hospital more and more regularly, Chris returned home only to wake in the middle of the night with severe chest pains, which transpired to be heart failure. Unsure if it was the medication or an infection from his gut travelling into his heart, Doctors told Chris to gather together his friends and family to be by his bedside as they weren't sure if he would make it through the next 24 hours. In the following weeks of prolonged recovery, Chris was told by medical professionals that while he was making steady progress that there would be a good chance that he would need part of his bowel removed in the future.
He thought at that moment, 'Is that it? Is that what this has come to?'
"I knew I had to make a change. First my colitis, then my heart and then the prospect of having part of my bowel removed. I needed to make a change in my life immediately."
Chris had a choice; either accept his current health issues or take positive action, which he hoped would positively impact his conditions.
He chose a better life.
The difference in Chris' approach to fitness ten years ago to what he does today is that he now harnesses the mental power you hold over your physical body for the greater good of your physical and psychological health.
"Embracing this approach isn't a 'cure for all, but the impact that your lifestyle, mental attitude and fitness have on your body is greatly intertwined," Chris explains;
And the reality for Chris today is that he is in remission, living a healthy, active and pain-free life. His approach to his own wellness success story naturally filters into his work with clients, taking a holistic approach to training the mind and body.
Just as this personal wellbeing and fitness journey is unique to Chris, he now applies the same bespoke approach to clients.
"No client is the same and no fitness journey the same. I've worked with a vast range of clientele from top models, professional rugby players and clients from early twenties to late eighties, and each one has an individual story or reason behind their fitness quest."
"I am very active and always try to step out of my comfort zone by going on adventures and pushing my limits. I've tried and tested a vast number of training methods and protocols in all fitness areas, from weights training and cardio to recovery and diet. This allows me to understand what does work truly and bestows the best results.
